Everyone knows the keys to losing weight: Eat less and exercise more. Sounds simple enough, but in the context of real life and its demands, it can be anything but simple. So how do successful losers do it?
1.) First of all, eat whenever you are hungry, and only then!
Do not try to get rid of pounds by fasting in any case. It is not only super unhealthy and will make you feel dizzy and miserable after a certain time, but in the end, you will also gain all the pounds you’ve lost again and most likely even more. While you’re fasting, your body takes it’s emergency reserves which he has been collecting before, as soon as you go back to eating normal, it will fill them up again, as soon as possible, so don’t even try.
Eat only when you’re really hungry. This is probably one of the most important rules. Way to often, we eat even though we aren’t even hungry. We eat, because we’re bored, or because we are angry or sad or thousands of other reasons. The next time you’re opening the fridge or buying something at a stand, ask yourself: ”am I really hungry? Do I really need to eat right now” If your answer is yes, if it feels like the right thing to do, go ahead and if not, simply wait until you actually are hungry, and eat then whatever you were planing to eat, you will see with an empty stomach it actually tastes even better.
Also, stop if you are not hungry anymore. I have to admit for me that’s the hardest part to do, when I have something that is actually really good and even tough I am not hungry anymore I still want to finish it, just because it is so good. don’t! After you stuffed yourself, you will regret it and feel miserable which might even encourage you to eat more ”now that you’ve broken your healthy attitude” try to think of exactly that feeling the next time, you’re about to decide whether to eat it or not. Imagine how you will feel after you’ve finished it, remember how you’ve felt last time.
2.) Drink A LOT
First of all : drink WATER! And try to leave any other drinks as good as possible out. Especially drinks like coke or lemonade have plenty of calories.
Drink at least 2 liters of water. Water makes you feel full and decreases your hunger. we sometimes even confuse hunger with thirst. However drinking water hast tones of other benefits:
-It is necessary for a proper digestion, the digestive system requires so much fresh water a day to work, and if you are short of this you will feel bloadted and tired.
-It helps to tone your muscles. If your muscles are dehydrated, you wont see any toning no matter how much exercises you do.
-It helps to reduce your cholesterol, which helps you slim down much faster.
-It flushes out toxins, making your body cleaner and healthier which is a very important condition under which your body will be able to get into shape.
So as you can tell, drinking water is a very important part of your diet.
3.)Eat a lot of natural resources.
Try to eat a lot of salad and vegetable, as those have nearly any calories. Eat a lot of fruits, however be careful with such as grapes or bananas. I am not saying that you can’t eat them! But do not eat to much of them at once, as their amount of fruit sugar is quite high. Try to lessen the amount (especially in the evening) of carbohydrate, which exists in bread, pasta or potatoes e.g. Moreover eat products that include protein, which is really important for building muscles. Eat meat with a low fat percentage (I especially recommend turkey hen), natural yogurt (doesn’t taste really good, but it has a lot of proteins, calcium, or magnesium and almost no fat, and if you mix it with fruits and some wholemeal cereals, it can actually taste really good) and also eat a lot of fish.
4.) Be aware of what you eat.
A lot of products that seem to be healthy due to their reputation or as they were advertised to be, by the medians, however they are not. I am definitely not telling you to count calories or something like that, but if you have a closer look here and there, at what you eat, or what the back of the product you eat might say, you will be surprised that not all products are as healthy as you might think.
5.) Exercise and work out
Try to find a sport that you like. Loosing weight/ exercising can be a pain in the ass, but it can also be fun once you’ve found the right sport.
Try to train both cardio and weight. Cardio can be replaced by a sport such as swimming, walking, running, soccer, dancing or whenever else you move a lot, and walk on your condition. For weight and building muscles you can do some excises at home, however don’t overstrain yourself and try to leave at least one day in between your workouts, so that your muscles have time to actually grow.
6.) Strive for a goal and attain it.
Set yourself a goal. However make sure that it is realistic and not to big for the beginning, therefore rather start with small ones. Afterwards you could reward yourself, you could grant you a new bag for example. Moreover, don’t give up, if your weight does not decrease for a certain time. I personally think that measuring yourself in a short period of time is not a good thing to do anyway. Rather weight yourself every two weeks or once a month as a lot of factors can sometimes increase the number of your weight rather than decrease which will make you feel really unmotivated (it makes a huge difference when you weight yourself, if you’ve eaten or drunken anything, what you are wearing, if you have your period, and also by building muscles your weight might even increase.)
Allow yourself some candies or fast food here and there, if you leave it out completely, i can promise you, you will not go through with it for a long time. It is important that you enjoy it and that you don’t stuff yourself tough.
Those are the experiences and tips I’ve learned on my way to a healthier life.
